For those of you who want to update your rooted LG G3 to Lollipop firmware and keep root/TWRP, you will want to install stock ROMs.
If you update to latest Lollipop firmware using OTA (over-the-air) or LG G3 stock firmwares, you will run into the problem of not being able to install TWRP due to new locked bootloaders on Lollipop. (Currently there is TWRP for Lollipop on D855 only!)
I have some great news for those of you trying to root your LG G3 on Android 5.0.1/5.0.2 Lollipop. There’s a new root method that now allows you to easily root on Lollipop using a hole in LG’s firmware fastboot mode. Thanks to XDA user Unjustified Dev and a Korean user, we now can root our phones easily on all Windows/Mac/Linux/Ubuntu/Chromebook!
Thanks to Open Source developers, we have full root method for the LG G3!
There’s currently many root methods for the LG G3, this is one of those methods.
Now, this is the ONLY root method for those of you who T-Mobile LG G3 but also works for many others.
UPDATE: These root instructions are for KitKat ONLY! If you have Lollipop, you can follow the guide here on How to Root LG G Flex 2, G2, and G3!
Everyone has been literally raving about this new ROM that converts your LG G3 into LG G5. Yes, that ROM is called the Fulmics ROM.
Ported from LG G5, you will get to enjoy the all-new LG UX 5.0 and apps from LG G5, converting your G3 into G5 as far as everything goes with the software. Of course, anything that requires actual G5 hardware is not possible such as fingerprint sensor or camera.

For those of you looking for Android 6.0 Marshmallow experience on the LG G3, latest CM13 ROM nightlies seemed to be still the most stable and one you can daily drive.
Although not too much has changed since our last post of CM13, it seems like the latest CM13 has improved on performance a ton, much better battery life, and a new camera app.
For those of you looking to experience Android 6.0 Marshmallow with root today (not when LG updates in a few months), you can grab the latest CM13 ROM from CyanogenMod Team. These are official nightlies from CM Team and upon testing them as daily driver, I found them nearly flawless.
Almost everything works out of the box so far that I’ve tested including voice, data, bluetooth, NFC, etc…etc… The only thing not working was the 4K video recording but 1080P video recording and still camera works flawless.
